At a minimum, pool owners leaving their pools open through the winter should put these three items at the top of their to-do lists:
- Operate the pump as recommended by the manufacturer. If the temperature drops to freezing, the pump should be in continuous operation.
- Maintain recommended pH and sanitizer levels.
- Keep the pool free of leaves, dirt and debris.
